In short
- No cookies are set unless you choose Allow, and there is no advertising or cross-site tracking.
- Our own measurement and Microsoft Clarity only run if you choose Allow. If you choose No thanks, or your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, nothing is sent.
- Nothing is sold or shared with advertisers.
Our own measurement (only with your OK)
When you allow it, your browser keeps a random ID and sends short notes to our own server when you view a page or use the directory. Each note says which kind of page it was (for example “connector page”, not the address), which filter, sort or question you opened, which listing you opened, whether you followed a link to a source, and whether the submit form composed a submission. It also records whether you are on a phone, tablet or computer, and, if you arrived from a campaign link, the campaign’s name.
A search is recorded only as the listed app or category it matched exactly, or as “other”, together with a rough count of results. The text you type is never sent.
We never record your IP address, your browser’s identifying details, the addresses of pages you came from, anything you type into a form, or your email address. There are no user accounts, so nothing here is linked to who you are.
The notes are stored in Google BigQuery in the European Union (Netherlands) for up to 400 days, then deleted automatically. We use them to see which listings and questions people need, so we know what to check and write next.
You can change your mind at any time: . Choosing No thanks deletes the random ID from your browser.
Session recordings (Microsoft Clarity, only with your OK)
When you allow measurement we also use Microsoft Clarity, which records clicks, scrolling and replays of visits, so we can see which pages confuse people and fix them. Anything you type into the search box or the submit form is masked in your browser before it is sent. Clarity sets first-party cookies to link the pages of one visit, but no advertising cookies, and Microsoft receives your IP address and browser details as any web service does. Microsoft processes the data under the Microsoft privacy statement. Choosing No thanks stops it.
Page counts (no personal data)
We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying visitors, so we can see overall traffic. It does not track you across sites.
Hosting and email
The site is hosted on Google Firebase App Hosting, whose standard server logs record requests for security and reliability. If you email us, for example through the submit form, we see what you send and reply from our own inbox. We do not add you to any mailing list.
